How do u count DPO?

My LH surge was positive around 4:30pm yesterday so will today be considered 1 dpo or will 1 dpo be 2mrw?

That's what I want to know too, how do u figure out exactly when u ovulated?

Well from what I've read after u get a positive LH surge u could ovulate between 12-36 hours (some said 24-36 hours) so that's confusing too. I also read that just cause u have a LH surge it doesn't mean u actually release a egg so when u have one and u don't end up pregnant that's probably why. There's no way to tell if u do actually release an egg or not unless u have a doctor monitor it by ultrasound. (This is just what I have read I'm not a doctor so I'm not sure if that's accurate) but I had a obvious positive LH surge yesterday my test line was alot darker than my control line and I'm in my "green days" on my home screen so I know it was pretty accurate BUT since u don't ovulate (if u do release an egg) until hours after u have a LH surge I'm not sure how to count DPO? I guess there might not be a way besides testing from "guessing" how many DPO u are? Also waiting til it's almost time for us to start our period would probably be the most accurate time to test since counting DPO may be too confusing not knowing EXACT day u ovulate?

Good question, I've been wondering about that for a week. This was the first month that I actually tried to test for the LH surge. Been ttc (sort of) since our miscarriage in September 2014.
