Normal bleeding?!

I'm 18dpo, 3 days late, still BFN. I did a cervical check today and about 30 minutes later experienced slight spotting (brown) and cramping.

Is this normal? Anyone else experienced this and gotten a BFP?

We've been TTC for 8 months and I thought this month was it.
