Is this a period?

Okay so I'm 17 and have been diagnosed with borderline pcos. I went a whole year with out a period. I had a really heavy period in September. Skipped October. 3 days ago I had dark discharge when I wiped. Today I'm bleeding a little but its dark brown blood. What is this? Should I be concerned. Sorry I know its tmi.

This is probably just spotting, record it and definitely have your doctor take note as well!!

I had my first period at 9 and was formally diagnosed at 13 and put on the pill. The OB at children's was rude and told me "Now Patty Anne, this is not a free license to have sex willy nilly." It took all I had not to gut check her. Instead I told her "Boys are gross, boys will always be gross. I am a child, and intend to remain ad such until I see fit. Madam."

I went through 4-5 more OBs like that and I'd have to explain PCOS to them Then I met the last 2 OBs, the first one put me in metformin and mirena. It was amazing.

Now I've been weaned off metformin because the combination of the IUD Skyla coupled with cutting all soy, beef/dairy products from cows treated with rbst, as well as chia and flax seeds has helped me start ovulating again, reduced my hairiness and helped me drop 30 pounds in 6 months!!

The most exciting development was that we got pregnant with the IUD and we made it to 9 weeks before I miscarried for the 3rd time. For us that is a HUGE VICTORY over PCOS and means that we may not even make it to the second phase of our fertility action plan!

Fertility Action Plans are very important, even if you're not TTC PCOS is a whole body, life long disease!! Treating it involves diet modifications, medications and careful monitoring of symptoms.

For now our action plan is for me to maintain the diet modifications for life and in preparation for TTC lose 70-80 pounds.
