Have you ever heard of this

So I'm 7&2 and haven't had an ultrasound yet I asked if at my apt on Thursday if I could at least hear my baby's heartbeat and I was told that because I have a bit of a gut I won't be able to hear it. I'm pissed. I know that I shouldn't over react since some people aren't even seen until they are 8 weeks. Am I being dramatic?
