When did you go on Maternity Leave?

I work as a nurse (12 hour shifts 3 days a week). We do not get paid maternity leave so I will be going on fmla. I was planning on working up until my due date of April 3rd but I don't know how common this, especially since I work long shifts. When did you ladies quit working??

I'm also a nurse. I plan on going til I can't go anymore. I wonder how realistic that actually is. I do home care that I just started to get out of the whole three twelves thing. You make your own schedule it's been great. But with people's houses comes a lot of stairs and in and out the car. So I'm hoping I want all the time with my baby I can get with out feeling restricted because of bills.

I'm also a nurse doing 3 twelves.. I will work up to my due date (or when I have him) and do fmla .. Ima try to use all 12 weeks. I have been looking into my companies shirt term disability.. They will pay for maternity after u have exhausted ur pto and eib. If ur full time hopefully ur place of employment has long term and short term disability. Many nurse I work with worked up to their due date. I'm also due the beginning of April.. (April fools day!)

I worked 8 hrs. 4 days a week and with both of my daughters I went to work up until a couple of days from delivery. I was an xray tech and chiropractic assistant, so heavy lifting here an there and constantly on my feet. We didn't have chairs at work, so we always stood.

I'm an RN who does 12hr nights and worked up until my due date as well. Only missed one day of work before my daughter was born. And I plan on doing the same with this pregnancy.

I'm a registered nurse I worked full time on a busy post acute care unit(20-30 pts a night) until 37 wks I literally could barely move anymore. I had planned on working until 39+3 because I also don't get paid leave but I'm glad I chose to take leave then. I got very sick at 38 wks and needed surgery and labor began slowly at 39wks. Just listen to your body it'll tell you when enough is enough.

I work as a MA and I'm going to play it by ear! Hopefully one week before my "due" date I'll start my leave! I never dilated with my first, I made my self go into labor 4 days before my due date! Planning on no more than 8 weeks since I too do not get maternity leave! I don't even have FMLA, thank god for Aflac!

I started mine @ 37 weeks sometimes you just have to listen to your body..you'll need all the extra rest. Friday I'll be 40 weeks & I'm glad I've taken the time off before baby arrives to just relax
