How to live with a boyfriend?

My boyfriend of 4 years and I are considering moving in together. I think that we would love it, but I know that relationships change when you live together. I also know that it's really up to us and that everyone is different, but any advice on making sure the relationship stays healthy and happy? I don't want to get stuck in a rut and hear about people breaking up soon after they move in together. Thoughts? Experiences?

Hi, make sure you guys talk about important things(cleaning schedule, who is paying what, food, space, pet walking, etc) before you move in together ;) my husband and I moved in after 8 months of dating. I also recommend that you talk about your future (engagement if that's what you would like) it's better to put everything on the table before you are living together

My boyfriend and I moved in about a month of dating. So, we didn't know what to expect or how to go about it, but communication was key for us. So, keep in mind that if something is bothering you don't get frustrated, just talk to him about it and vice versa. Good luck to you guys!

I say go for it! When you guys do decide to make the move both of you have to remember to be flexible. In other words if your use to doing  things one way and he does it another way compromise, and the biggest thing is don't forget to communicate. Talking to someone about things you don't like can prevent a lot of fights. Don't forget to go out on dates too, I know it sounds funny but just because you live together now doesn't mean you should forget that your dating and love each other. But moving in will strengthen your relationship especially if you guys plan to stay together and further your relationship.

It doesnt have to be hard you both just gotta learn each others quirks and figure out where to go from there. My husband and i moved in quick it was like 2 weeks after we go together. We had known each other for 6 years prior hes my brothers best friend. But we moved in quick i have 2 kids from a previous relationship and so i thought it was gonna be hard but we havent had any issues about anything or how we are. We have been married 6 years now. I dont think you two will have such a issue with things since you have been together for so long already.

Communication is the key! But you have been together 4 years, you should know each other by now! It will be lovely, I love living with my partner, we moved in together after a year and have now been together 6 years! Usually when it goes wrong is when people rush into it and move in together when they have been going out less than a few months, you are still getting to know the person at that stage. Be careful with expectations, on both sides, when moving in together. Set goals and expectations about your lives for the future and things like saving/spending money/credit issues, household responsibilities, still doing exciting things together once you live together, quality time issues when spending time with other friends and family/who and how often people visit your home etc... Talk seriously before moving in together. Be cautious.
