I had an affair over the summer. It lasted about four months and ended in September. I haven't spoken to that person since it ended, but ran into them yesterday in a store. I didn't speak, just turned and went the other way. I'm not even sure they saw me.

No one knows about the affair. Should I confess or just let it be.

Thanks everyone for the feedback!! I would never tell his wife and hurt her. I feel terrible about the whole ordeal and have definitely learned my lesson and will NEVER do anything like it again.

Typically people only confess because they are feeling guilty or vengeful. It's usually self-serving and does nothing beneficial. Even if you loved the person or felt you truly knew the details of their marriage or relationship, you never know the full story. You never truly know the reason they cheated with you and it isn't your place to insert yourself yet again into their marriage or relationship. You'll only be hurting someone else. Generally that partner's take on it, is that they wish they had never found out and life could've continued on as normal, especially if the affair already ended. I'm not and will never be in the camp of "she deserves to know". I'll always be in the "mind your own business and walk away" camp.

My friend at the time had an a affair with me😐 at the time I was really in a dark place when I did it I was aware about his gf but I was under the impression that he was in a open relationship but the later on I found out he was in a commited relationship and they were both cheating on each other and he used me just to get back at his girlfriend 😑 I was badly hurt at then end especially the fact he tired to  take virginty at the time! I would never do what I did again period!

I have technically had a affair, but I was in a loveless relationship purely together just because of financial commitments ( not that makes it OK and I learnt my lesson) but in time we both went our separate ways as I knew we would,  we were both in a bad place and miserable. I think if your still with the person and actually want to be, then maybe you should re assess why you did this in the first place then make the decision about telling him.

Nothing make cheating okay. But I've done it. It lasted two days and I felt horrible and cried constantly. I love my bf but we were fighting and things were a mess. I wanted more attention and he couldnt, and wouldnt, give it to me. I am in a LDR so it makes it even harder. Anyway, I believe that telling only hurts things. If you learned your lesson, leave it alone. Move on.
