Are there any standard newborn procedures that you'll be declining?

I'm curious to know if anyone will be opting out of the standard newborn hospital procedures. I've been researching the eye ointment and read that it is used prevent blindness in case I have an STD. I definitely don't so I'm opting out. Is there other standard stuff you're planning to "refuse"?

Were having a water birth at home, so i guess were opting out of all of the "routine" procedures. Im most excited that we are not cutting the cord until it is no longer pulsating :)

The ointment is also used to prevent pink eye. I would talk to your doctor to ensure you want to opt out!

We're doing delayed cord clamping but other than that, we're pretty standard. I know I don't have any STD's but we're still doing the eye ointment to prevent pink eye. We are also doing the vitamin k shot, because they won't circumcise without it.

I didn't do eye ointment or that vitamins shot. No need for a newborn baby to be vaccinated immediately.

I am delaying all of it at least an hour so we have time to bond and breast feed. And I will probably refuse the Heb B shot because the chances of a nurse with Heb B bleeding on my baby are pretty low..he can get that later when he's a little bigger.

We are doing delayed cord clamping, no shots, no eye ointment, not wiping vernix off the baby instead we will rub it in, bringing baby to breastfeed right after birth (height and weight can wait) and we will be doing placenta encapsulation.

Still have to talk to my midwife about the eye drops and the vitamin K shot. I think the eye drops are still mandatory by law where I live, unfortunately.

I waited until an after hour my daughter was born to have the ointment. It's supposed to help
