What to do?

Not really controversial, but I am leaving my BF who I have a two year old with because he just decided he didn't want anymore children. He did before but not now. *its the hardest decision I have ever made since I hate having to split up my son from either of us. Also my sons father wasn't very nice too me :(

Anyways, I own my own home and could barely afford payments on my own(BFs name not on home), so do I get a roommate or get rid of my car to help with extra money? (I'd get something less expensive, my car payment is $450 a month) problem with roommates is I don't know or have any friends near or in the town we live in and do not trust "strangers" coming and renting/living with me and my child. And my car, I spent a ton of my savings, over half to pay towards my car so hate to throw it away. I have two years left to pay on it

That is a really high car payment, holy crap.  Try getting it refinanced first, that way you won't lose everything you've put into it.

That's hard. I couldn't do a room mate bc it's hard living with someone especially with a kid. Is ur sons father going to pay child support? Would that help? Hard if u trade car in for something cheaper it's starting over n u will have more then two years left to pay. What about tax return? That cud help for a little while.

I'd try to refinance the car. If that isn't an option, I'd sell it outright and get a car outright with that $$

I would say sell the car and buy a cheaper one. Also, you should start building an emergency savings fund. The book Total Money Makeover has helped a lot of people do great things on small incomes, and it's actually a really fun to read book. You could also try cutting cable, turning down the heat a couple degrees and sealing off any drafty windows or unused rooms. Good luck!

Get a roommate. You can look on craigslist, and meet the people in person, in a public area. My friend just broke up w her boyfriend and found a wonderful new roommate, and now she doesnt have to worry about paying her bills anymore because they pay half.

I think you are making a mature decision, honestly. It's big of you to realize he won't give you what you need long term, and willing to take that step.

If you can cut costs to afford to live alone, then try. If you can't, a roommate is a viable option, but screen carefully! You have a son in the home who needs to be protected. I'd do my very best to stay roommate free. I'd move back home if I had to (and that's saying something because my Mom is a nut). Good luck
