Losing weight?

Has anyone lost weight just by eating healthier and controlling portions? I have no energy to work out and no time. I work 50-60 hours a week with 3 young children at home. Husband also works just as much. So I'm used to eating unhealthy foods, chicken nuggets, French fries, candy bars, pop.... I cut all that out and eat a lot of veggies, fruit, chicken breast, yogurt.... Will this help? I keep getting told it won't help me lose weight :/
