Is it sad to plan your own engagement?

Question

Hi me and my partner have been together for just over a year and we have spoken about getting engaged. We have chosen the ring together and ordered it. Now I don't know what we will do in terms of proposing but is that quite sad that I am also planning my engagement?

Heck my husband didn't propose and neither did I. We mutually decided marriage is what we wanted.  What can I say we are boring and practical.  We picked out a ring for me together, he bought it and I got it right then and there.

It's not all that bad! My SO and I were looking at rings when then jeweler just GAVE one to us! So right off the bat I knew it was going to happen. We went home, put it in the safe and one day he just asked! I understand that it should be a surprise and all the other good stuff but if you don't care about materialistic things and care more about your SO you will just be glad you can now call him your Fiancé. I don't regret it one bit!

I picked out my ring and he said he was gonna do it and I couldn't get it until he proposed. I was outside smoking with his mom then when I came in he had the ring out and said " wanna make it official?" And I said yes and we conceived that night lol

My engagement was a discussion with my now husband about our future and us mutually coming to the decision we should get married. I never had the proposal and it isn't necessary in my opinion. Society has made all this some big event but it is totally over rated. We wish we spent our whole wedding budget to stay longer in Mexico because the honeymoon was the best part. I did enjoy my wedding but not because of the dress or rings but because the people I love were there. We could have been in rags and I would have been happy. It's really not all rainbows, puppy dogs and perfect proposals. I picked out, bought and paid for our rings and I'm perfectly happy.

My fiancé and I planned ours to an extent. We always knew we would get married, so when he saw the ring I loved on sale he got it, I was knew he was going to propose (he's so easy to read) so the actual proposal was all him but the before hand but we were involved. I can't really imagine not having talked about it all and looked at rings etc before hand. That way we both knew that it was forever. don't worry about other people, you do you. :)

Yes I think so and I don't mean it in any rude way. My husband and I talked about getting engaged and knew we wanted to. And I actually had a family ring that I wanted as an engagement ring (so technically I picked it out). I knew he had talked to my parents and grandmother and knew he has the ring but I did not help plan when he would do it. I hate surprises and I was surprised and it was absolutely perfect. You picked out your ring.... Let your man figure the perfect way to pop the question

I told my husband I wanted to get married for my 21st and just started planning my wedding... That makes me seem spoiled brat like but we've been together 6 years and we were talking about buying a home if I had the same last name it would make it so much more helpful so I didn't get my ring but 1 1/2 months before the wedding :) planned for about a year.
Now here we are one year happily married and TTC baby #1 for 10 months now. All I have to say is don't rush it that was my mistake.
