Heavy to light periods

Hey everyone I don't know if I'm the only one but when I was younger I had a very heavy period flow. I wore overnight pads everyday and wore 2 every night just to stay protected. I am 20 years old now and my periods are really light. I wear super tampons and if I'm not careful it is possible to mess my self the first 2 days, but when I wear overnight pads there is barely any blood.  Im not taking any birth control. My periods last the same amount of time but are just very light to me. Is it normal for menstral flows to just change like that? HELP
