C-Section and Other Bits

Katie • Wife and mother to two fur babies. Expecting baby #1, May 2016.

Well, my perinatologist appointment today went a little different than I expected. I was informed that due to a pre-existing genetic condition, and possibility of uterine rupture, I will be required to have a cesarean. We'll also need to deliver at a hospital quite farther from home than we'd hoped.

In addition, it was discovered that there are small openings in the placenta. The doctor informed us that these could close on their own, but they could also affect the baby's blood and oxygen volumes. Little man will need monthly scans to make sure he is growing appropriately and the placenta is fully functional.

I have to admit that I'm a bit overwhelmed.
