First Period After Having Baby?

Question

How long after having your baby did you have your first period if you are NOT breastfeeding?

Hubby and I are trying again. After 5 years of TTC and 5 pregnancies this is supposed to be the most fertile we've ever been (right after having a baby)

We BD for the first time 31 days after having my son and we've been BD'ing every other day since then.

Is it possible to ovulate after having my baby before getting my first period?

If so is it possible we are already pregnant? When would you say should be the official day that if I don't get my period by then I should test? 8 weeks post? 10 weeks post?

I had a 4 week follow up not a 6... So I won't be going back until May for my annual unless I'm pregnant again.
My midwife is hopeful we'd get pregnant again and fast, I'm just wondering how fast.
There's no way if I got pregnant last Wednesday that a test would show a positive now anyways.
So I guess maybe if I reach 8 weeks pp with no period I'll test?

Answer

I got my first cycle 3 1/2 weeks after having baby. But everyone is different. I would say when you go for your 6 week follow up take a pregnancy test.
