Are cats dangerous?

So I have a cat obviously, I heard that their urine and feces can be fatal for an unborn fetus? My doctor told me that I should absolutely not be cleaning his litter box because the possibility of toxoplasmosis. What if I have no one else to clean it? I'm the only one that can do it and now I can't? What am I suppose to do??

It's really only dangerous if you've never been exposed to it before. If you've ever had a cat that went outdoors your immune system is probably already prepped. Beyond that it takes over 24 hours to develop into something that could harm your fetus. So if you clean the litter box daily you're pretty safe.

Wearing gloves and a face mask are just extra protection (not that it's bad, I would recommend extra protection when possible. Especially for peace of mind)

Don't fret over it too much. No need to get rid of your cat or anything. Just be aware and responsible and it'll be fine :)

There are four cats in my house and it's been fine, but I don't change the box.   They aren't even all mine.  Ones my sister's, ones my dad's that we are keeping for him until spring, ones mine, and one is a stray that I guess is everyone's now.   My neighbor knocked on my door one day and when I opened it this starving little kitten came running in and my neighbour said "your cat was at the door."  I couldn't bring myself to kick her out.

I have 3 cats and I use a mask and gloves and wash my hands well.... If u clean it everyday ur not going to get it bc it takes longer than 24 hours to grow... Also if ur cats r totally indoors than there's hardly any chance they are infected
