Shouldn't it be our choice?

My husband and I have been together since April 2014, married since April 2015 and living in our very first home since October. We have a great relationship. We are ALWAYS together and we communicate well. We are both extremely happy. He is my once in a lifetime.

My husband wanted to start ttc on our wedding night but I was not ready. I wanted some married life first. It's been 8 months and we tried for the very first time this month (af due xmas day).

Everyone has said we should wait, that we haven't enjoyed each other enough yet, that we would be making a bad decision. We (obviously) haven't listened. It makes me nervous to tell anyone when we do become pregnant.

I am 26, he is 30. We are financially stable, we own our home and most of all we are happy ... Are we making the wrong choice ( in your opinion?) will a child ruin everything? Shouldn't that be up to us?

Here's the deal..  In the grand scheme of things..  You haven't been with him that long. A baby changes everything..  Sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad. Babies are stress and a full time commitment. It takes the priority of putting yourself, your husband and you marriage first, to putting the baby first. For a couple that hasn't been together as long, this could put a lot of turbulence in your marriage. This is why people are giving you this advice. If you give yourselves time to nurture your marriage and create an unbreakable bond (even more than it is now),  you will have more of an advantage. This is not to say you have to follow this advice..  This is just where I think a lot of people are coming from. Personally I think that being financially stable, having a home, good job are priority as well. Seems like you have all your ducks in a row. If you are ready for a baby, then don't let anyone stop you. I am confident people would be happy for you when you turn up pregnant, they are just trying to give you a piece of advice.

Of course it up to you! Friends and family are just giving you their opinion. You don't have to follow it. Do what you want. Don't feel awkward about it tho. Own your decision 😊

Who cares what people think? You guys have talked it over and agreed that it's the best decision for you. I got married December 2014 and pregnant 3 months later, baby girl is due less than a month after our first anniversary.

I got married in April 2014. We started and got pregnant in November 2014. I wanted to wait two years but we both felt it was right. Only you two know your marriage. Some people say that a baby changes things, and it does.

My marriage sounds a lot like yours now. I'm always with him if he's not working. He always comes straight home from work so he can be with me.

A baby changed our marriage, but for the better. We still haven't fought. I love him even more than I did before. It's your decision. So if you feel like you're ready then you guys are ready.

This sounds almost identical to my situation! My husband and I have been married for 2+ years and he's super ready and I'm not there yet. I've gone off birth control but we aren't necessarily actively trying. All of our family and friends keep asking when we are going to have kids! Ughh... A big part of it is my career too. I'm just really getting rolling in a new job I started this summer and I want to be able to commit to it. It's a really hard balance.

Only you can decide when you guys are ready. I guarantee the people telling you all this mess will be the first ones to want to babysit your child. People's opinions regarding children are pretty fickle once they see how lovely they are.
