Stripping membranes

Has anyone else had their membranes stripped to help induce labor and did it work? I had it done 2 days ago and I'm having contractions but not close enough together. I don't feel like their going to keep progressing. If I don't have the baby over the weekend my doctor is going to do it again on Monday. I wanna have this baby before Christmas I have family leaving the state. Just curious how effective it really is to do this.
