Bloodshot Eyes

I have been getting bloodshot eyes like once a month randomly. It is not because of lack of sleep or crying. My eyes just get bloodshot for no reason. I talked to my mom about it and she said maybe it has something to do with my blood pressure. Has anyone experienced random bloodshot eyes before? Do you think my mom is right?
