Confused about this transgender situation with my friend
A guy I played basketball with in high school is in the process of finally transitioning to male (was female when I knew him) anyway, I haven't seen him much since graduation but we recently became friends on Facebook and started catching up. Well, he got into an argument with a female friend's boyfriend because the boyfriend felt my friend was coming onto his girlfriend. I wasn't there but there is a huge drama post on Facebook right now that is pretty much: the boyfriend got in my transitioning friend's face for being disrespectful and now everyone is calling the boyfriend a woman beater because my friend is technically female...
I love my friend but 1. He did cross the line with this dude's girlfriend and 2. He demands to be treated as a male and I respect that, but he shouldn't be able to use female excuses when it benefits him... Right? I have a feeling I'm going to be put in the middle and I'm just trying to be a level headed and understanding friend but I don't like lying about my opinion on the situation.
Editing to clarify: yes my friend is saying the boyfriend is a woman beater because he got in my friend's face while at a bar. There was no actual fighting but there were words exchanged and threats from both my friend and the other guy. Not that the guy was beating on his girlfriend or anything.
