Did I take this the wrong way?!?

Ok.. My husband and I have been together 8 years his ex wife has done nothing but try to sabotage our relationship, not only between us but between my 2 step children (who are my babies hate the word "step") and we are going through a VERY NASTY custody battle at this time and she tried to cause drama with my ex about our son (called my ex at work and lied and said my husband was about to get arrested, of course it wasn't true but still...) Anyway I could go on forever about the bs and drama! This morning I was told that her BF had beat her up in May while pregnant I checked the clerks website and it's true! Plus in 2009 he beat up his ex wife and has alcohol problems. I told my husband this morning and of course he freaked as I did, but then he said she is the mother of my children and I don't care if I hate her or not it's not right for any man to put their hands on a woman much less a pregnant woman (which I agree with the abuse part 1000 %) But then he also said I could get mad at him if I wanted but he will help her if he can by calling her Father. I'm not mad I guess I'm just a little shocked he said all that we are TTC right now and maybe my emotions took over.. Please be honest and tell me what you think or how you would react.
