Do you make your kids help out with household chores?

My step children are 4 and 7 and apparently I'm the most evil person on the earth for asking them to fold 1 out of 10 loads (usually the towels) I ask them to wash dishes (plates  and and cups) and pick up after themselves (which apparently is hard)
