This seems more like a hate group towards all religion than a fellowship between non-religious people!?

Question

I joined the group because I thought it would be a nice place to share ttc-talk and pregnancy-talk with other atheists and agnostics. Unfortunately it seems like most posts are about making fun of religion, believers or hating on all things religious. Why is that necessary?

All that negativity towards others will not make anyone happy. It's just sad.

It's a green category room, so 'health and lifestyle' rather than specifically ttc or pregnancy.  We discuss whatever we want to discuss without getting 'praise God' or I'll pray for you' type responses. We also post about frustrations and difficulties in dealing with religion or religious people. I think those are all reasonable things to discuss in this room. I don't think it's a negative space at all.

Also, can I ask which post you feel is hateful towards religion? Most of us just vent about or ask how to handle family members inserting their religion into our lives without us wanting it or asking for them to do so.

I don't feel like there's hate at all in this group. We are atheists and a minority and it's nice to talk about atheist related things to bond with similar minds, because most of America identifies religiously.  Its good to feel validated by others of similar minds

Um I don't get where you seem to think this is a hate group, but it seems to me that's how most religious people think. If you aren't with them then you are against them. I see the whole religion thing as present day religious people view Greek mythology. Instead of seeking the truth through knowledge they turn to their faith in God just like the Greeks prayed to Zeus and the other gods. I call this willful ignorance.

Sometimes we rant and maybe sometimes were mean but my reason is because I am told I am empty and going to hell.

This isn't a pregnancy group for atheists, etc. There's other groups for that.
