Harassment

My friends and I were at the beach the other day and for several hours these two men were watching us, making us extremely uncomfortable. We ended up leaving for abit then later when we returned they were still there and then continued to watch us. One of my friends and I went in the water why the other stayed on the sand. During this time one of the men got up and started hitting on my friend. I found this extremely disgusting as both of the men were atleast in their 30's while we are only 16. Upon asking the man politely how old he was, he became rude and arrogant and did not answer. I was getting pretty annoyed at this point so I told him how disgusting it was to be hitting on teenage girls. I told my parents about the incident later, only for my mother to get angry at me and tell me I shouldn't have done something so silly. I'm honestly furious that i'm the one in trouble and being told what I did was wrong. That women are supposed to feel uncomfortable so a man can have his fun?! What is everyone else opinion?
