When is it safe to share the news?

I have an appointment this Wednesday where I will be 11 weeks, 6 days. If everything looks good, I was thinking of going public Saturday (12 wk, 2 days). Is that too early? I'm 34 and have been trying for 5 years! I'm eager to share this magical news, but scared of all the what could happens. Thanks for your advice and support!!

Psh I was so excited. We shared at 8 weeks. The earlier you share, the more support you have if something were to happen.

I've seen stats that show that once you see heartbeat at 9 weeks or later chance of miscarriage is less than 0.5% and it basically stays at that level for the rest of pregnancy.

My husband and I waited until... Now at 8 months. Out of fear of losing it. I wish we had shared sooner because I've spent this whole pregnancy hiding it and in a mental denial that it will make it this long. But it has! And we've done all the testing imaginable and everything is perfect. Healthy. I could have been getting more emotionally baby ready with my friends and family this whole time, and speaking openly about the pregnancy struggles I've had. I think waiting til you hit the 2nd trimester is smart, but don't do what I did. Share! :)

Chances drop dramatically after your first trimester, which is actually 13 weeks (remember, each month has more than 28 days/4 weeks).
With both of our pregnancies, we've told immediate family and a few close friends earlier on, but waited to "alert the masses" until after 13 weeks.

I think Saturday would be perfect. The chances of miscarriage drop dramatically at 12 weeks. I think it's less than 3% chance.  I announced at 11weeks but everyone is different.

I'm only 6 weeks now, going to ultrasound Wednesday. My mom thinks I need to wait until Valentine's Day which I will be 12 weeks then. My boyfriend and I are thinking about telling sooner because we would be devastated if something happened. I'd want support and I don't feel like I could just hide it and go on like I was never pregnant. I work for family and those who aren't are close enough to be family. One of the girls whose my age has been trying for 3 years with a failed IVF and I know my mom is concerned about how she's going to react. But I feel like that shouldn't steal my glory-- I have no intentions of rubbing it in at all. But I know she'll be hurt that she's tried for so long and I wasn't even trying and it happened    I think it really depends on each situation and how comfortable you'll be if you miscarry.

If you can hide it until 12 weeks and the first trimester is over you'll have a high probably of not having a miscarriage.

My hubby and I shared as soon as we "confirmed" with the doctor, which was 7 weeks. I wondered if it was too early, but I'm 37 and have been married for 16 years, so it was hard to hold it in.

Announce when you like. I had a still birth at 31 weeks so things can happen at any stage. I am pregnant again now and planning on announcing at 12 wks xx
