My mom volunteered to throw a baby shower for me and my husband told me to make sure to include his mom. I told my mom to find ways to include her, so she emailed her and asked her to help with food and favors. I had lunch with my MIL today and she told me that she was feeling left out and felt like she was just getting told what to do. I felt bad but also like I was missing something. It turned out that my husband told his mom that we needed a shower planned and didn't tell her that my mom had already volunteered to do it, so she was blindsided when my mom had everything figured out already. Now I feel bad that my mom looks like an a-hole and my MIL is feeling hurt. And now my husband is making me feel bad, saying that we should have all planned it together and it wasn't right to do it without her. But I didn't know she was expecting that! Am I in the wrong here? How do I make this right?
