Baby shower

Hey ladies! FTM here and really excited about having a baby shower! Now my problem is I don't have any close friends that would throw one for me where I live now. And family lives 4 hours away in my home town, and as a control nut I really like to plan everything, it's hard to explain why..

So my question is, is it rude/greedy to plan my own baby shower? I'm honestly not in it for gifts it's really just another way I can see all my family and friends from home in one place because I miss them so much.

Or should I wait and see if my family are planning anything? (That option makes me very uneasy and I kinda freak out over the thought but I believe I can suck it up)

Please no mean comments. Just suggestions or what you have done or would do?
