Baby carrier besides wrap or detachable car seat option.

As a first time mom I'm wondering what other moms would recommend as far as baby carriers. I was gifted a wearable wrap carrier which I assume I will use quite a bit around the house and while out and about. My car seat does not have a detachable carrier option like I've seen many moms use in public. So what other options should I look into for instances when the wrap is not ideal, such as Dr visits? I did some quick googling and found portable bassinet carriers and baskets, but they look a bit bulky...input and advice would be great!
