Has n e one went into labor without losing mucus plug?

Question

I'm 38 weeks 50%effaced 1cm dilated.  And never seen a mucus plug and I always check.  Do I have to lose it to go in labor or dilate more?

Never saw any of it. Was in labor for 3 days before my contractions dropped to 5-10 minutes then they broke my water after 6 more hours of waiting.

I never saw any of it until after I was in labor and my water broke, then just little bits at a time. I was well past my due date too. I guess it was really in there good! Lol

I never lost my plug. Started having painful contractions and by the time I got to the hospital I was already 7 cm! My water didn't even break on its own.

I went into labor without losing my mucus plug, dilating, or having my water break. I started dilating only after my contractions were getting closer together and they had to break my water for me when I hit 4cm.

I was 8 days past due.
