Help!

I'm 36.5 weeks...My belly has shrunk overnight. I'm worried because not only am I smaller and softer but I have a decrease in movement. He still wiggles here and there but not as frequent. I have an appointment Thursday but I called this morning to see if they could see me sooner and the doctors aren't in the office due to the holiday. The receptionist advised me to go to L&D. Has anyone experienced this just to give me peace of mind before I get to the hospital.
