Gender secrets

I really want to know whether we have a boy or girl cause I'm a big knitter and want to get started on knitting for toddler years and such.  I figure I won't have much time for knitting when the baby gets here. Also, my husband is pretty indecisive so knowing ahead of time will help make the tough naming decision.  That being said,  I think it's pretty tasteless to have footballs and princesses on clothing.  I know that once we have the child and keep decorations and clothing relatively neutral until they have their own preferences that our family will understand and respect those choices-  but in the meantime I'm a bit concerned people will go overboard with gendered items.  Do you guys think it's absurd to keep the gender to ourselves until the birth?
