CD Ovulation

I'm pretty sure I ovulated on CD 12 this cycle but I keep thinking no that's too early. My hubby travels for work and left the 3rd and I'm sure I ovulated on the 6th. I'm hoping the sperm would live long enough to catch ovulation date. What CD do you ladies usually ovulate?
