Could you get remarried without your child present?

I'm not necessarily judging- I just really don't understand my husband's ex wife's decision to get married without her 6 year old son present. He loves his mom and he loves weddings... When my husband (his father) and I got married he was so happy and so excited about the cake and all that! I know she just went to the court house but she had her out of town family on the phone- she could have had her son THERE.

I just can't understand leaving my kid out of my wedding- even if it is at the courthouse. But maybe I'm wrong.

No way! I would need my child there. It meant a lot to me to have my (step) son at his dad and my wedding. I had vowes I made for him. When I married his dad I was also taking on a relationship with him as well. We would never leave him out from it.

My mom remarried when I was 8. I was a flower girl ❤️ I my stepdad even got me a little ring. It was sweet. Now they are getting remarried next year and I'm the maid of honor ! :)

I did. I have 2 kids from previous relationships. My husband and I did a quick courthouse wedding. We were there for 20 minutes. We did not have anyone come with us. We have receptions later that day.

Andy's mom got remarried on a cruise over the holidays. None of her (adult) children, nor her grandchildren, were there. She chose to get married on a cruise, she chose to get married over Christmas. She has been acting offended that none of her children attended, but did she really expect them all to have thousands of dollars to go on a cruise?

No, I wouldn't want to... my dad got remarried without me when I was 10, and didn't even tell me about it until a few weeks later. It really hurt my feelings, so I wouldn't want to do that to my (non-existent) kid!

My mom remarried behind me and my brothers back. She sent us to our dads for the weekend got married and then a couple weeks later I had to find out from my step dads snotty daughter. So she didn't tell me. I felt hurt. Only thing I can think of was my mom always told us she would never marry anyone we didn't like and we didn't like him so she felt that was the right way to go.

My friend's boyfriends ex wife just did the same exact thing! And not only that, but they share 50/50 custody and it happen to be on their dad's day so she skyped them! They are like 5, 7 and 8 yrs old! I was competely appalled!

Nope. I just got remarried in April. My daughters helped plan (my older daughter called it "our wedding")  and insisted on being flower girls. My son HATES weddings but was still there and had the option to sit out for the service if he wanted (he didn't ultimately) and just be there for the party after which he loved. They are hugely impacted by my getting married and the changes in our family and life. I wouldn't be okay not having them there. About 1/3 of our guests were children. Lots of families present and it was perfect!!

We had discussed a courthouse wedding. And they would have been present for that too.

Both of my parents left me out of their weddings when they remarried.

Not something I would ever do, but some people are supremely selfish.
