Rocking chair or just a really comfy chair?

I'm a FTM and trying to buy furniture for the nursery! But I am having a hard time finding a modern rocking chair that fits with the rest of the room. Any moms out there opted out of a rocking chair and just got a regular chair? What's the benefit?

We bought a glider for the baby room. It's super comfy and the ottoman rocks with the chair too. Love it!

I'm not a FTM, but I didn't have a rocking chair with my first & I told myself, I WILL GET ONE FOR OUR SECOND BABY! I think it's most useful at night when you crawl out of bed to tend to your crying baby in the middle of the night. The first time around, I would just stand and bounce around until the baby fell back asleep. But I think it helps best to have a rocking motion when you're exhausted and don't want to stand or to feed really quick! I would highly suggest one. Maybe check on Craigslist.

I got a glider and matching gliding ottoman on Craigslist last pregnancy for $75. The set was in great shape and super clean. It doesn't hurt to check around for deals.

I got a rocking chair/recliner for a good price from Cosco. I think it will be nice to have somewhere comfortable to sit while feeding the baby and rocking is supposed to be soothing...I'm all for anything that helps quiet a crying baby!

We had one of the wooden gliders with the pads and the Ottoman. I thought it was really uncomfortable to sit in with my daughter. With this baby we are going to get a lazy boy type chair.

Glider!  Having something you can rock in is essential.  We bought ours from Babies R Us and used it a ton for my first son and we'll use it again for my second son.

Depending on your budget, Pottery Barn kids has a rocker which converts to a regular armchair. It's beautiful yet pricey.

Personally, I'm not purchasing a rocker or glider with this babe (#4). We know he's our last so I don't see the need. Also, he's sharing a room with us for a while and I want the chair we purchase to serve another purpose down the road.

I had a glider with #3 and didn't care for it. Hubby used it more than I did. Lol

We splurged and bought a glider. It's so incredibly comfy!! It'll be so nice to be feeding baby in it. So worth the money.
