Should I test?

Hello ladies.

So my husband and I have been married for 6 months and have been trying to get pregnant to no avail. My period is regular. It comes on the 7th faithfully....except this month. Im now 5 days late with no period symptoms. I know im only a few days late but I'm concerned if I should test or not. How long after your expected period did you test? Upside is that we'll be expecting a little bundle of joy. Downside is we may be excited for nothing. What should I do?
