Selective reduction?

Question

Would you reduce Quintuplets to twins or a singleton?  
Doctors reccommendation, or we risk losing all of the babies.  
 Transferred 4 blastocysts after 4 failed cycles. All implanted and one split into identicals.

Keep your opinions on abortion to yourself.

I can't believe your doctor implanted so many embryos!! Most doctors won't implant so many based on this exact situation! Wow.

Wow. I am so sorry to hear this if this is currently something you're going through. That is a really hard decision for anyone to make.

I would reduce. With five you're guaranteed to have very early preemies and they will be very small. I'd rather give fewer babies the best chance possible.

That is a very tough question, especially as the one carrying the child(ren). At the end of the day, your health is he most important as you need to be there to raise them, but I also understand the issue with terminating life you've fought so hard for.
 
There is no good answer, there is no answer that will make you feel good at the end of the day. 
 
I suggest logic. Logically, your life is necessary to theirs. All four of them can't live with you. You are risking all of them as well as yourself. Therefore, you must cut down on the valid implants. I would suggest either twins or 1. 
 
I am truly sorry you have to make that choice.

Twins or singleton would reduce the risk a lot and any nicu time.
Quints is really risky. High chance of being in the nicu for months, maybe lose one or more.
But it's a choice you have to make. You can risk all of them or some and either way things could happen and you could lose all or some.

Do some research and make an educated decision. Its a tough one depending on your beliefs and situation. Can you afford 5 babies? Do you have space for them? Given that these kids are at higher risk of cognitive and physical disability are you able to manage that if it occurs? Can you afford extended time off work for bed rest, taking care of babies in NICU? Lots of important things to consider. Best of luck in whatever you choose!

While I am pro choice. If this is doctors recommendation, to reduce to twins, I would ask why he allowed 4 to to be transferred. I get that all 4 don't normally take, but why not just 2? Ya know. I'd be kinda pissed at the doctor.
Then again I've never had I got it any kind of transfer so idk.

I wouldn't be able to have a reduction. Because how could I choose which to keep? Or even if the doctor chose still. I would always look at the other kids and wonder what the ones I got rid of could've been.

My mother in law had 4 transferred and 3 implanted and that was in 1990. Medicine has come so far, I know it would be a high risk pregnancy, but don't let anyone tell you that you have to eliminate any of them.
