I think it's more that Renee is the most popular spelling and so you're less likely to have people misspell or mispronounce it.

I say Renee :). But I can so tell you from experience there will be people to misspell it or mispronounce it. My own dad couldn't spell it right up until a couple years ago lol.

Either the Renee or Rene' (with accent mark over the e). Rene without the accent mark seems like it should be pronounced "reen". And Rena looks like "reen-ah" instead of "ren-ay".
