Women who delivered without epidural??

Question

This is my second baby, and with my first I had an epidural mainly because I was terrified of what it would feel like one I pushed the baby out and afraid of ripping. The epidural didn't take at first so I did feel most of the contractions. This time I'm thinking of holding off as long as I can, but am wondering what it feels like to push without any meds? I've heard of the "ring of fire" and that scared me the first time.

I ripped. I didn't feel it. Giving birth didn't hurt as bad as contractions did.

I did without and felt so amazing afterwords got up and showered and felt like I could run a marathon

Like others have said,  the contractions are worse than pushing. It was a relief to push,  not comfortable mind you,  but i at least had a purpose to the pain. I was losing my mind trying to breathe through contractions and not push,  so when it finally came time to push i felt so much better.

I have had 4 with no meds at all and plan for no meds this time too. The worst part is the contractions! When you are at the point where its time to push 1. Its not as bad as contractions 2. You know its almost over and get to meet your little one. Its not a walk in the park but as soon as you meet your baby you almost forget the pain you went through 😊

The contractions is what hurted, the ripping i didnt feel it, the ring if fire isn't bad i felt it and i knew she was right there to come out that's when you feel it.

For me contractions are worse than the pushing. Once at the pushing stage it was a different pain but more management than contractions

Thanks everyone for the input. Really appreciate it and feel motivated! Hopefully I won't have to be induced this time around :) but all your stories are making me think I should at least try not getting an epidural.

I had all my children vaginally. The 2nd n 3rd naturally and plan on having my 4th in June naturally also and to be 100 percent its pressure that you feel and as long as you are not sitting on your butt or laying down, it will take 90% of the pressure off of you and help you out a lot! I was sort of raising my hips off the bed and one leg like I was squatting and my 3rd came out with one push! My 2nd came out with 3 pushes n my 1st with 9 so I'm going to stick to this!
