If this is your first baby, are you buying a brand new nursery set (crib,dresser,etc) or will you be getting gently used or hand me downs?

My husband and I have been looking at cribs and nursery furniture, and it is looking like we will be spending between $1,500 to $2,000 on getting new furniture for baby. We don't have any family nearby or friends that have kids, so we will be starting from scratch. That seems like an awful lot, but if it lasts for the long run then it seems worth it. Thoughts? :)
