Appointment at 5 weeks?

I made my first prenatal appt (this is my first pregnancy) and I will only be 5 weeks along. I thought it wouldn't be scheduled until I was closer to 8 weeks. Anyone else have an appointment this early, and if so, what did they do at this appointment? I assume it's too early for an ultrasound, or to hear a heartbeat...

Usually it's blood work to see how much our HCG and progesterone levels are at.. Also an early ultrasound to make sure the implantation happened in the uterus and not in the tubes... I had my first ultrasound when I was 5 weeks 2 days... You can't hear a heartbeat unless you are past 6 weeks 4 days or so... At this point you can see a gestational sac with a tiny glimpse of yolk sac.
