Mucus plug?!

Ok. So I had my cervix checked yesterday for the first time, 1cm dilated & 25% effaced. I had some dark brown spotting for a little but afterward, very light & nothing that worried me. I was in the shower just now, and I look down and see this thing that looks like a blood clot on the ground. Like the size of a dime. Gross but of course I had to pick it up and look at it. It was dark brown like old blood but was almost gelatinous rather than being the texture of a clot, like really thick. Think that was my mucus plug, or a piece of it?
