The "next" step

How do you like go further from the "come over & chill" stage. Like I feel In high school when people say they "talk" to someone, what they usually mean is they talk/text a lot & chill at each others house. Well we all know what "chill" means. I look around and see these couples getting together within a month or so. It literally took me like 6 months to almost date. I don't get it.. What am I missing?
