Explain contractions to me please ? FTM 38 weeks

I cannot tell the difference between contractions and Braxton hicks. I'm not sure what I'm feeling. Even when the baby moves or kicks it hurts very bad, I'm not sure how to tell the difference. I'm due in 9 days and still don't know what I'm feeling ! I'm 60% effaced but no dilation yet.

Braxton Hicks shouldn't be painful. Track them (I downloaded a free app). If they are consistent (5-7 min. apart and lasting 45+ sec.) and last even when you move around, call your doctor.

If yu drink some water en walk around and they stop yur having Braxton hicks but if it's consistent then they jus may be the real deal

Oh you'll know when they are active contractions. They can wake you up out of a good sleep and when I had mine with both my girls they made me puke that's how strong they were. It kind of reminds me when you have a stomach bug and puke. If that makes sense.
