Does rejecting a proposal mean the end of the relationship?

Question

Basically if he proposes to "do the right thing" after we are pregnant or if the baby is under a year old, I will say no.

He shouldn't feel pressured, and I shouldn't feel like if we didn't have a kid together, he wouldn't have proposed.

So, if you reject a proposal is the relationship over?

Maybe you should communicate that to him. If that's how u feel and think he will possibly do that then you should have a heart to heart with him so no one gets hurt

If you just say "no"  then I'd say yes it's over. If you explain to him you don't want to get engaged just because of baby, you want to get engaged bc it's right and it's what you both want, then that's different. At the same time, do you want to spend the rest of your life with him? If you have a baby together, it appears that you've planned to spend at least 18 years together. So are you being stubborn or are you really not ready? In my point of view, saying no would be bc you don't want to marry that person, or you aren't sure yet, you not ready.

He might propose to you when you're pregnant or have an infant because he's seeing a side of you he hasn't seen and feels love for you in a different way and finally sees himself ready to spend his life with you. You turning down a proposal "just because you're pregnant" is the same thing as him proposing "just because you're pregnant". Make it clear to him that you don't feel a need to get married just because of the baby and you don't want him to ask just because it's the right thing.

That's the ultimate rejection and men sometimes have a hard time accepting rejection.  Before you make any decisions, try to put yourself in his shoes.  He is probably ecstatic about baby and this may be the missing piece he needed to really solidify your relationship as future husband and wife, and as a family.  I know it's hard because you don't want him to do "just because" there's a baby involved, but you never know what positive things could evolve from taking a chance!   Best of luck 😊

It really depends. But if he asks you once, don't expect him to ask you again. Maybe you guys should talk about this just so he knows that you aren't ready for that yet.

I think it would be in most cases, as it often would be a sign that you are at very different places with the relationship and your desires. I am sure there are occasions where it doesn't end everything, and both might feel relief if the proposal were rejected.

I don't think you should automatically say no....I mean, what if he had planned on proposition before he even knew you were pregnant? What is he genuinely wants to marry you, not just because you are pregnant? I feel like you guys should talk about that because if he proposes with true intentions, then why say no? If you love each other you should be able to say yes. Don't let the thought of him only proposing to "do the right thing" get in the way of him proposing because he truly loves you.
