Bleeding a week before my period?

2 days ago I missed my pill and experienced spotting the next day. Whenever I've missed my pill before spotting doesn't occur for a couple of days. Today the bleeding is very heavy and the blood is a dark red. Any idea what it could be from?

When you take the pill regularly, the reason you get your period is because those last few are blanks. You aren't getting the hormones so your period kicks in. If you were already close to your cycle and missed one, your body thought-- ok it's go time. I personally would stop taking the remaining pills and treat this as the start of your period week on blank pills. I think that's what the instructions that come with the pill say to do. And in a week start your new pack.
