What should I do?

I'm 23 years old. My mom has my Social security card and she will not give it to me. I asked her yesterday if I can have my card so I can have it on myself.  She says "no that is her card and it always has been". Yea I understand when I was younger she needed to keep track of my card. What can I do to convince her that I really need my card now?

Here is my Concern.  Could I be able to apply for a new card with new ss numbers? Because I do believe that she is using my name to get things such as rental furniture and other stuff.

You can do a credit freeze and it won't allow anything else to be put in your name. You need to run a credit report and see what's been in your name. That stuff is serious and could ruin your credit and you won't be able to get an apartment/car/etc. Trust me. I had 10k put in my name in new opened credit cards and it's taken YEARS to pay off(still a balance as we speak). It was a family member and although they are making payments, it is still hanging over my head until the last cent is paid. Such a headache. Close whatever accounts you can that have been opened. Just don't wait!

Why do you need the physical card? You only need the number. Mine has been locked in a fireproof box for 25 years.. I only took it out to replace w my new name after I got married. It isnt something you should carry around, ever
