What to expect after delivery?

Hi all- I am a FTM, trying to stock up on supplies and get prepared in that area now. I want to buy pads but wasn't sure if I am nursing if I will need a lot or what to expect after giving birth as far as a period and such. I will make padsicles and have read about those for swelling but in general am not too sure what to expect or to have a lot of.  Any help would be great. Thank you!
