Gestational diabetes?

Anybody has to deal with gestational diabetes while pregnant? Is it a serious thing?

It is serious because it can affect your baby, but with proper care you can go full term and have a healty baby. I had that with my first son and do to diabetes he was born really big weighting 9lbs 9oz. Now I'm pregnant with baby #2 and I'm a pump user because I became diabetic after my first child. One of biggest risks to baby is their size--any sugar that isn't regulated in your system will go straight to baby and immediately materialize into fat and be stored. That's why diabetic or gestational diabetic patients babies are bigger and usually will be induced by the 39th week. I got diagnosed at 34 weeks and at 37+2 she was already measuring no smaller than 7.9 but most likely between 8lb5oz and 9lb1oz. I'm now 37+6 and she's prob around 9.5. I have to be induced at 39 weeks

Left untreated, yes it can be. Mine came on early and they discovered a heart murmur in my daughter. These 2 go hand in hand. The murmur was checked several times, but isn't serious. I also have watched my diet and maintained my sugars pretty well, but we are still looking at a NICU stay for my daughter for a few days. Please do what your dr's tell you to, so you and your baby are as healthy as possible.

I failed my 3 hour test. They haven't put me on meds.  However I have to check my ketones in the morning and my blood sugar 4 times a day and eat by a diet they give me.
