How do I tell my mom?

So I want to switch from the pill to fertility avoidance or awareness?
I'm an adult but I'm still living with my mom while going to school. We're very close and I value her opinion but I think she thinks Natural Family Planning methods are bull.
How do I talk to her about it?

I honestly would not do NFP until pregnancy is not a big deal. I was on it and got pregnant.

I would stay on the pill until you move out of your moms. I think it's disrespectful to risk pregnancy if she isn't okay with you getting pregnant while you live there.

I'm not entirely sure why you feel you need to tell her? You're an adult. Just because you live with her, doesn't mean she has to know your method of birth control. At the same rate, should you switch to FAM and wind up pregnant, you're an adult and should be prepared to move out at that point.

NFP is 75% effective, if done correctly. So every one out of four times you have sex you could get pregnant. You have to know your fertile days so you can avoid sex during that time. I got pregnant within a year of using it, even though it was done correctly. I would suggest not doing it unless you're mature and responsible, financially stable and out of school because the chances of having a baby are really high. If you still want to do it, then do it. You can just tell your mom if you want, but you're the one in control of your body and making the choices. So do what's right for you.

First things first you're not having a baby with her nor trying to have a baby right? So what's the biggie? Maybe you two are very close and she has a lot of say in the things you choose in life? Or maybe since you're living in HER HOUSE you feel compelled to tell her juuuussst in case you got pregnant and she says "I thought you were on the pill?" Then you say "oh I switched  to natural," them she goes "YOU SWITCHED TO NATURAL??? WHY THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT??!!!" Then what would happen then? I think you're leaving out an important part because to me that's not something to get advice for especially if nothing is going to
Happen? You're not 17 living at home unless you're like 18,19, 20 living at home then THATS another story cuz then you really still like a child then this would all make sense.

I would read all you can about it before switching to it, and use condoms until you're sure you understand your cycle well enough. Talk to her about it like the adult you're claiming to be.
