28 weeks.. Wasn't expecting this

So I went into my normal 28 week appointment like I would any of my other appointments. They asked me the same question as always 'and concerns or questions' I told them I was having some groin pain on my left side and Braxton hicks contractions frequently. They told me they wanted to check my cervix to make sure all was okay and just to be safe. Doctor told me my cervix is extremely short but I wasn't dilated. She seemed a bit concerned and told me she wanted me back next week. I was told to take it easy and no sex or exercise. I went 5 days past my due date with my son so this was a shock for me. Anyone else experiencing this? I'm a little worried.
