Still no contractions..?

So I'm 39 weeks 5 days with my first baby and everyone is concerned that I'm not having any contractions. My boyfriend's mom told me that when she was pregnant her contractions weren't strong enough and she had to be induced. Could I be having contractions and not feeling them? I do get very uncomfortable pains down there and sometimes it feels like she's about to come out, but my stomach doesn't get noticeably tight so I figure that's not it. Help! I wanna know when the baby is coming! I also forgot to mention.. I don't believe I've lost my mucus plug either.
